What do fairies do when they get bored of riding dragonflies? Why, write some letters of course! Give a child you know the gift of a fairy pen pal with this splendidly fun activity.

Our curious little fairy has become tired of fairy life, what with all those moonbeam parties and magic glitter. She’s looking for a creative child to tell her about the human world. We’ve made three fairy letters you can roll into scrolls with leaf wrappers. There are little name tags written by (one assumes) tiny fairy hands. Just leave them for a child to find and start them on this wonderful adventure.

The real fun is in the back and forth correspondence between the fairy and child. So while we’ve provided everything you need to get started, feel free to jump in as the fairy and reply yourself. Either way, there are lovely templates for you to play with.

Download your fairy mail

You will need:

Printer
Scissors
Pen
Fairy dust (not really)

Create your fairy pen pal

Step 1

Download and print the templates to create your mini fairy mail. But shhh… don’t let your little one see.

Step 2

Cut out the first letter, one of the bespoke mini tags, and a leaf. (Or use a real leaf for added believability.)

Step 3

Sign the letter and personalise the mini tag (think tiny fairy handwriting). Now glue a little piece of thread to the tag and tie it around the leaf

Step 4

Roll the letter into a scroll. Why not add a little bit of fairy-approved glitter?

Step 5

Tie the leaf around the scroll. Your fairy mail is ready!

Step 6

Hide the mail somewhere, you know, fairy-like. In the nook of a tree in your backyard or even in a plant at home. Now make sure your little one sees it and watch the delight on their face!

Time to write back

Once you’ve read the letter together, encourage them to write back. We’ve created two more letters to get you started, but you can also write your own responses. Spread your fairy wings and have fun.
