‘Wrapido!’ – a Christmas magic trick

‘Twas the night before…

What better time than the festive season to show off with a bit of magic? Wow the little ones with a trick we call ‘Wrapido!’, the fastest way you’ve ever wrapped a gift. It’s quick and easy to learn, and will leave your audience astonished.

You will need:

a square napkin
two of the same treat (something that rolls into a napkin easily)
wrapping paper, string, and a tiny tag

It’s Wrapido! time

Step 1

Neatly wrap one of the gifts and place it on the table. Lovely.

Step 2

Cover it with the napkin so that two corners form a line away from you.

Step 3

Call your audience. Place the unwrapped treat in the centre, and explain that you’re going to wrap it by only using magic. Place the wrapping materials around the treat. (You can add a little theatre here by placing everything very carefully.)

Step 4

Grab everything in the middle (including the wrapped gift underneath) and start rolling the napkin away from you with both hands. Straighten the sides as you go.

Step 5

When you’ve rolled the entire napkin into a tube, ask for your little helper to sprinkle it with festive magic. A light dusting should do.

Step 6

While you were rolling, the top corner and the bottom corner should have changed places. Grab the one that’s now pointing forward, and the one pointing backward, and pull!
