(Not always something you have a lot of when you\u2019re knee-deep in newborn nappies!) We\u2019ve picked up a few tips along the way to help the first meeting and beyond go as smoothly as possible.<\/p>\n<h4>1. Wear your normal \u2018mummy\u2019 clothes for the first meeting<\/h4>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-81769\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.wonderbly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/sibling_blog_1.jpg\" alt=\"sibling_blog_1\" width=\"960\" height=\"679\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.wonderbly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/sibling_blog_1.jpg 960w, https:\/\/blog.wonderbly.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/sibling_blog_1-768x543.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hospitals can be unsettling places for kids, so make sure you\u2019ve changed out of your hospital gown and removed any scary wires or drips (if possible) before they come in the room. Being able to recognise you as \u2018mummy\u2019 will help reassure them you\u2019re ok.<\/p>\n<h4>2. This helps them feel like they are still your special little star.<\/p>\n<h4>3. A lovely way to introduce children to their new sibling is to get them a gift from the baby to them. Don\u2019t worry \u2013 it\u2019s usually a sign of love! But you can always buy them their very own baby to love and look after, which is also a nice way for them to mimic your behaviour with the real baby.<\/p>\n<h4>5.
